Recently Found | Desk Update

Remember how I avoided showing you my
recently found desk

I think I'm ready.
Gulp.

And, I think I might be a hoarder.
And this may prove it.

 I don't need a desk.

And I definitely not a desk splattered with paint.

However, it isn't everyday
that you find a piece
that fits PERFECTLY under your chair molding.

And it certainly isn't everyday that you find a piece that flows with a space.
Crickets?
Trust me, once I'm done with this bad boy...

Or girl,
she will shine.
because she goes so well with the

Almost, I said there.
(yes, you can, even if you don't have an iphone, view my feed)
to see what plot to take over the world I have in mind for this one.

While you're there if you DO have an Instagram account,
follow me, like some pics
and I'll follow back. Super fun!

What have you been hoarding finding lately?

In the Details: Functional Chef's Deck

Look at me all fancy and stuff with the big titles.
A "Chef's Deck" eh?

What I'm talking about is there is this big old hot thing.
To the right.
In the picture below.

And you cook on it.
And, because I'm crazy,
the stuff I would cook with
(ie, utensils and spices and oils)
was never quite organized in a way
where I could ever find what I needed
when I needed it.

So instead of stashing all my utensils in the drawer
below this counter,
I brought them out into the open.
I found that crock at Goodwill for $2.99
Why yes, I'm keeping it.

For the longest, I have had a stash of various decanters
of oils and vinegars
on my counter
just hanging out.

Imagine my delight when I found this lovely oval tray
That not only fit the crock,
but also fit ALL FOUR of my lovely secret juice decanters.

B.I.N.G.O.

Well, almost.
Currently, it is a golden, shabby, hue of God knows what.
It only cost 1.99
so I have no problem hitting that up with spray paint.

One of these days.

In the meantime,
I'm loving having all of my handy utensils and oils
"on deck" for when I'm ready to cook.
Just wait until I show you what I did with the drawer.

Have you done any reorganizing in the kitchen lately?

Slowly, but surely, I've got big plans for this place.
Not least of which is to use some more blood, sweat and tears
on those counters to get them shiny again.

Sigh.

Week 42 Random Pinehurst

It is getting on baking season.
Not that I bake or anything.
I do, however, collect these hand mixers.

Reading Nook Part 2 - In progress

In my August finds post,
I may have hinted at a new obsession | collection

Okay, really, it is two new obsessions:
globes
vintage children's books.

I do work in education after all.
No, I am not an educator.

Let it settle in.

Across from my reading nook
There was an empty space just big enough for one of my fave Craigslist deals ever
I redid the chairs for the dining room and you can see them in this post.
But the table...

I painted the top with chalkboard paint and started on the sides.  You'll have to wait for that.
What I did finally get around to though
is that since we built the built in shelves for the office downstairs,
I have these bookcases.
I stacked them on top of the table.
After I cut off about 18 inches from the top so that they would fit.

Gave me lots of display space for thinks like this

and this

and across the top, I just laid out my newest collection

Along the side, in the mini windows letting in all of the light
that is a rare sight in these parts,
I lined up the first collection that stole my heart

What are you collecting lately?
Any other camera, vintage children's books or globe collectors out there?
Do you have a globe that lights up?
I might or might not have one of those...(smile)

Linking up to Funky Junk's Themed Vintage Link Party

Found Out and About | Furniture

Time to get caught up on all the good finds
I've found
while out and about
during this wonderful, beautiful
yardsale weather.

I picked up these two tables for $5
at the annual SR Spring Sale.

Half off, they were $2.50 each so $5 for both of them.
Didn't realize at the time that they were actually different
Love. Them. 2. Pieces.

I also picked up this dining room table set
for the empty spot in the MIL suite

I can't wait to do some vignettes on it.
The set cost me $25.

Which was a little more than I wanted to pay.
But I knew it was going to be in my home
not a flip
so I was okay with that.

A couple of days later,
I was at one of my fave thrift stores
and I spied these gorgeous legs

Which belonged to this fantastic bench

That I promptly put in front of Ashley's window

I'm okay with that
(smile).

What have you found lately?

Lovely, but not as fun

Be still my Target heart

Gorgeous (and inexpensive) as these clean whites are from Tar-jay,
there is just something off.

It isn't as fun to collect all sorts of white kitchenware
when you can just buy it in bulk from CB2 or, now, Target.

Although they did have a pitcher for under $15 that I might not be able to live without.
Might not.

Found This Week (June 19)

A little early this week.
Happy summer time!

A while ago
I got this calendar

Off of Craigslist for free

I have calendar printed a wall of my home
And you've seen it before here and here and even here.

Remember?

Well,
Imagine my delight
when I found this calendar

I so can't wait
for the wall
and the weekly photos
that this will be on.

While the vintage Ansel calendar
was what started my obsession,
unique wall calendars are some of my
favorite DIY supplies.

Wall decor really cheap.
Especially if you love grid displays like I do.

Stay tuned!

Found This Week (June 12)

Found
70 degrees (finally!!)
lovely $5 picnic basket

Roomy enough for a blanket
soda
water
glasses
couple of sandwiches
and some puppy treats

Never mind that I forgot the puppy treats.
I am somewhat of an absent minded puppy mommy.

Hey...she got to chase the ball the whole time anyhow.

Found at the International District Goodwill in Seattle.

Found This Week (June 5) - A bit of Everything

A cartfull
A ton and a half of sheet music
Great kiddie books
And

the most AWESOME
yellow
Skyway
train case

Complete with VINTAGE tag

It's going in the shop

And it will cost ya
but I'll refund a chunk of the price
If you open it up
And shoot me a photo
of what is inside

Something is in it
Alas, I don't have the key
And I kinda don't want to just bust it open

But I'm also kinda curious...
